I was working around some photographers and reporters that are a bit younger than me recently. They were talking about what they had done the previous evening. There were bars and clubs and restaurants and very late nights involved. I started to think about what I had done the night before which at first glanced seemed considerably less exciting. When I thought more about it though, I realized how great my night was. I realized that before I know it my 5 year old won't be 5 anymore, my 2 year old won't be two anymore and my evenings won't be the same. Everyone always tells us how fast our children will grow up and I am starting to really see it. I want to hold on and I want to appreciate it, so the next night I made this time lapse. So to all those folks out there partying, this is what evenings at our house look like. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Sunset
I know, it's a sunset... Kinda cheesy and stuff right. I have to admit I still get inspired when I see it. Especially when it just feels a little different. I don't even know what I mean by that and I am not going to try to figure it out. I think it's just nature reminding us who is in control, but in a nice way.
Panoramic Love
I just got back from Florida where I was assigned to shoot the New York Yankees Spring Training. Spring Training is one of my favorite assignments of the year and I have been doing it for 8 years now. It can get a little repetitive so the challenge, and the fun, it to try something new each year. Last year I brought my tilt shift lens and had a lot of fun trying to look at things from a different perspective. Ever since college, when I got a Russian made Horizon swing lens camera, I have been in love with panoramic images. Especially swing lens images. So it was with great excitement I headed down to Tampa with my Noblex swing lens panoramic film camera and 20 rolls of Tri-X in tow. You can imagine my disappointment on the first day of pitchers and catchers when I realized it was not working. I was just so bummed out and now I need to find someone who can fix it. Just to be nostalgic though, I dug out a couple of old travel photos I shot with the camera. I can't wait to start shooting with it again (assuming I can get it fixed). So check back in the future and be on the lookout for a new swing lens project.
Since I mentioned it, I figured I would put a gallery up of the photos I shot at Spring Training with the tilt shift.
My Children
So here is the launch of the Blog. I am not quite sure where it is gonna go from here. I hope people will look at it. If they do, I hope they gain something from the time spent here. I will try to show pictures I love and talk about photography and what I love about it. I figure the best way to start is with my absolute favorite thing to shoot, my kids.
